New and Renewable Energy Minister Bikram Singh Majithia inaugurated two solar power projects of 2.1 MW and 1 MW at Mirpur Kalan village of the district.

The projects have been set up by Alianz Eco Power Ltd and Nextgen Solux Power Pvt Ltd at a cost of Rs15.50 crore and Rs8 crore, respectively.

With 64 MW installed capacity of solar power, the district has emerged as torchbearer for solar energy platform in the state, he said.

Besides, Moserbaer has taken 150 acres of land at Mirpur Kalan on lease for setting up a 34 MW solar power project.

Majithia said a humble beginning three years ago in the renewable energy sector had now became a movement as the solar power generation had touched 215 MW from 9 MW with an investment of more than Rs1,500 crore.

At least 23 ground-mounted solar projects of 229 MW capacity (Rs1,600 crore) and four solar rooftop projects of 65 MW (Rs300 crore) are under implementation, he said.

The minister feigned ignorance over the status of solar plants by Poena Power Ltd, a subsidiary of Indiabulls. The state government had allotted 175 acres of land to the firm out of 880 acres acquired in 2011 for Gobindpura thermal plant.
