PITHORAGARH: The Adani group from Gujarat has bid for a 50 MW solar power plant at the Khurpia farm in Kiccha subdivision of Udham Singh Nagar district.

The Adani group from Gujarat has bid for a 50 MW solar power plant at the Khurpia farm in Kiccha subdivision of Udham Singh Nagar district. The electricity generated by the plant will be sold to Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL), corporation sources at Haldwani said today. The Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) had floated a tender for solar power proj- ects recently.

“The Adani group is among the 102 companies which have submitted proposals to generate over 500 MW of solar power in the state,” said the sources.

They added the group would be given 100 hectares for installing the solar plant in the Khurpia farm. The plant would cost over Rs 300 crore and would help in improving the power scenario of the Kumaon region.

“We have submitted a proposal for the construction of a 220 KV substation at the Khurpia farm to supply extra power generated by the Adani group solar plant to be installed there,” said DC Pandey, a Power Department engineer.
