Make green a way of life, says governor Tamilisai Soundararajan
HYDERABAD: Urging people to ‘make green a way of life’, governor of Telangana underlined the importance of conserving environment and cultivating a mind-set of sustainable development.
“Due to population explosion and uncontrolled development, natural resources are being exploited. We as individuals can make significant difference to conservation by adopting simple changes in our everyday life in the way we consume water and energy,” she said during the inauguration of the three-day CII-IGBC Green Building Congress 2019, on Thursday.
Over 100 companies are showcasing their green building products and technologies at the event. “Raj Bhavan has implemented several green building measures, such as net metering, energy efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting, solar power, and a policy of no single-use plastics. Let us all pledge our commitment to build a greener and healthier India,” Soundararajan added.
The governor also congratulated the Telangana government for its green initiatives like Haritha Haram and industrial policies promoting solar power plants. In his address, Jamshyd N Godrej, chairman, CII Godrej GBC reiterated the importance of water conservation.
“Those who live in areas affected by water shortage know the importance of water conservation well. We need to make water conservation and water recycling a top priority in all kinds of development, whether it is manufacturing or construction of buildings,” he said.
