Why the world needs India to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals

Sustainable Development Goals
In the year 2000, world leaders promised to halve extreme poverty by 2015 with a global plan called the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Thanks to a global effort combining millions of changemakers, real progress has been made with India following a holistic approach towards achieving its 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets through the launch of various initiatives. However, this development agenda needs to be pursued in a holistic, sustainable manner, in keeping with the needs of the environment we exist in, utilising the resources at our disposal to achieve the world we want. Doing so will require all of us to work in tandem and
take action on the things that matter most to people everywhere.

Engaging a Nation
India as a nation is entrepreneurial and at the cusp of change. With India being the world’s youngest country, its youth needs to be engaged in early education and action to create and sustain a long-term momentum that can help the country see their targets through and drive SDGs action.
Thus, there is need for a continuous series of action-oriented programmes to empower efforts of change-makers, and match bottom-up innovation with organized expertise in a bid to scale up progress and create more meaningful impact. Our vision is to create an active community of change makers committed to accelerating positive change and innovation to achieve the SDGs, supported by cross-sector collaborations.
