SHIMLA: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will inaugurate 5-MW Berra Dol solar power plant at Shri Naina Devi shrine in Bilaspur on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will inaugurate 5-MW Berra Dol solar power plant at Shri Naina Devi shrine in Bilaspur on Wednesday.

Constructed by HP Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL), the plant will generate revenue of Rs 4.40 crore every year.

According to the HPPCL, the 5-MW solar project has been synchronised with 33/11 kV network, Kot, and the generated power is being sold to the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board at Rs 4.31 per unit. The project will generate 101 lakh units of electricity per annum and earn revenue of Rs 4.40 crore to the state exchequer.

The contract for designing, supply, construction and operation of the solar project was awarded to Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd (BHEL) and it will maintain it for the next five years.

The HPPCL said Rs 36.24 crore had been spent on construction of the project. It has already generated 11,18,367 units of electricity till date.

The HPPCL is also preparing DPR for a solar plant at Aghlor in Una. It has commissioned two hydro electric projects namely 100-MW Sainj Hydro Electric Project in Kullu district and 65-MW Kashang Hydro Electric Project (stage-I) in Kinnaur district in 2017.
