Udaipur Cement Works Ltd. (UCWL) is advancing its decarbonization agenda through a strategic dual-technology solar initiative designed to optimize renewable generation across both land and water surfaces. To support this transition, Firstgreen assisted UCWL with two critical assignments: project management consultancy (PMC) for a 10 MW ground-mounted captive solar plant and a comprehensive feasibility study for a 10.3 MW floating solar installation on the company’s mining-area water reservoir.

The 10 MW ground-mounted solar project represents a cornerstone in UCWL’s shift toward clean, stable, and cost-efficient captive power. Firstgreen’s PMC scope included design validation, contractor coordination, quality monitoring, and implementation oversight, ensuring the plant adhered to stringent performance benchmarks and integrated seamlessly with the cement facility’s electrical infrastructure. This structured approach ensured optimized generation, reduced operational risk, and improved lifecycle performance.

In parallel, the floating solar feasibility assessment enabled UCWL to explore an innovative pathway for expanding renewable energy capacity without additional land acquisition. Firstgreen conducted reservoir mapping, anchoring assessments, technology evaluations, and financial modelling to determine the viability of installing 10.3 MW of floating solar on mine-water ponds. The study evaluated energy yield potential, environmental considerations, and grid-integration requirements, providing UCWL with robust technical and economic insights to guide future investment decisions.

By combining ground-mounted and floating solutions, UCWL maximizes its renewable energy footprint while ensuring efficient utilization of available land and water assets. This integrated optimization strategy supports the company’s long-term goal of achieving greater energy autonomy, reducing electricity costs, and lowering carbon emissions across operations.

Firstgreen’s detailed engineering analysis and implementation frameworks ensure that both projects align with UCWL’s sustainability targets and operational priorities. Together, these initiatives position UCWL as a forward-thinking cement manufacturer adopting advanced renewable technologies to drive impactful decarbonization.
