First green solar product review- Fronius

Published by firstgreen on

Fronius has made a significant step in this direction with the launch of its storage solutions, with which surplus solar energy is stored in a battery and consumed as needed – even if the sun isn’t shining. The World Climate Summit 2015 brought climate targets to the fore, which Fronius has represented and been working towards for years. The future holds countless challenges, from e-mobility to efficient energy management and comprehensive strategies for energy supply. Fronius will continue to play a crucial role in the future and carry out research into new, revolutionary technologies.

Over the years Fronius Solar Energy has become much more than just an inverter manufacturer. Today, the Business Unit is a pioneer in the field of renewable energy. Under the motto “24 hours of sun”, Fronius is presenting its vision of a future without relying on fossil fuels. This is a completely new energy strategy in which only renewable sources are used to supply the population with power.

History

Fronius has been engaged in the field of renewable energy, and in particular solar energy, since 1992. The first Fronius inverter, the “Sunrise”, was developed in 1995, marking the birth of Fronius Solar Energy. The third and youngest of the three Fronius Business Units was responsible for a revolution in 2001, when on the roof of the former production site in Pettenbach, the Fronius IG came into being. This was an immense, innovative leap forward in the field of inverters. For the first time plug-in cards were used to upgrade the device, for example with a WLAN module, giving it a future-proof feature that had never before been deemed possible. The product lifetime of the inverter clearly demonstrates its exceptional quality; it was not until the end of 2015 that the Fronius IG was discontinued.

Innovation

Fronius has also been consistently working on different research projects right from the start, always with the aim of making renewable energy future-proof. The Fronius Energycell, which first went into development as early as 2002, is one of these projects. This system has been designed to convert solar energy into hydrogen and then store it. In 2009 it was certified as the world’s first system of its kind anywhere in the world by TÜV Süd. The next evolutionary leap forward for inverters came in 2013: the Fronius Galvo marked the arrival of the SnapINverter generation on the market. The intelligent design of the Fronius Galvo and the models that followed caused delight among installers and customers alike.
