AMRITSAR: Government schools in the district will soon have solar power systems in their campuses.

Government schools in the district will soon have solar power systems in their campuses.

The move has been introduced to save electricity and reduce the bill. These schools will be having a 5KW solar power system. A total of 880 schools across the state, around 78 in the district will be having the power system. These schools will be high and senior secondary schools.

The school heads have to make sure that net metering to be applied at solarpunjab.com. One has to upload their school head photo along with electricity bill of the school concerned.

Deputy DEO Harbhagwant Singh, said, “Many of the schools including smart schools, self-smart schools, are using excess energy. Single meter will be provided free of cost. If the school requires a three-phase connection that is chargeable.”

Pankaj, a science teacher, said, “Solar power stations in government school is a good step for environmental conservation.”
