Amity University, Noida has long positioned itself as a frontrunner in sustainable campus operations. Its decision to deploy a 1 MW rooftop solar photovoltaic system exemplifies this commitment, transforming academic infrastructure into an active contributor to clean energy generation. Firstgreen was appointed as the Project Management Consultant (PMC) for the initiative, responsible for steering the project from concept to commissioning with a focus on engineering quality, safety, and long-term performance.

The installation was strategically distributed across multiple academic buildings, which required detailed structural analysis and architectural sensitivity. Seamless integration with the existing campus profile was a core design driver. Beyond technical considerations, the project was envisioned as a model for institutional leadership in renewable energy adoption.

As PMC, Firstgreen delivered a comprehensive scope of services. These included system design validation, tender documentation and contractor selection, technical due diligence, and continuous construction supervision. Particular attention was given to ensuring the solar plant’s compatibility with the university’s electrical network, optimizing power evacuation, and strengthening operational reliability. The team implemented rigorous quality control protocols throughout installation to ensure that all engineering and safety standards were met.

Today, the 1 MW system is fully operational and contributes significantly to the university’s grid savings. More importantly, it functions as an experiential learning platform for students pursuing engineering, environmental sciences, and sustainability studies. By converting its rooftops into a renewable energy laboratory, Amity University has reinforced its commitment to experiential education and climate responsibility.

The project stands as a benchmark for educational institutions seeking to reduce carbon emissions while enhancing student engagement with clean technologies. With growing interest in decentralized solar solutions across Indian campuses, Amity University’s example showcases how thoughtful planning, expert PMC oversight, and institutional vision can converge to deliver impactful, future-ready infrastructure.
