Discoms to focus on energy efficiency

Training programme for officials underway

Chairman and Managing Director of Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana Ltd (TSSPDCL) G. Raghuma Reddy has said that they have plans to focus on the demand side management as well as energy efficiency towards achieving better energy use with both the consumers and the power utilities standing to gain.

Speaking at the inauguration of the five-day training programme for the officials of all power utilities organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with the support of Bureau of Energy Efficiency and Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited (TSREDCO) here on Monday, he explained that the initiatives such as distribution of LED bulbs, installation of large-scale solar projects and conducting energy conservation awareness programmes for consumers were aimed in that direction.

Demand side activity

Vice Chairman and Managing Director of TSREDCO N. Janaiah said their demand side management activities that includes distribution of LED lamps and brush-less direct current (BLDC) fans. Principal counsellor of CII P.V. Kiran Ananth highlighted the importance of demand side management with respect to the rapid growth of energy demand in the country and also complimented TSSPDCL for its initiatives.
