Intent

Adopt passive architectural design features to minimize negative environmental impacts.

Compliance Options:
Option 1: Simulation Approach
Demonstrate that the passive architecture measures implemented in the project has resulted in
at least 2% energy savings of total annual energy consumption (through whole building simulation
approach).
Option 2: Prescriptive Approach
Demonstrate that the project has implemented at least one of the following passive measures
that result in energy savings: (1 point for each measure; maximum 2 points)

Exemplary Performance:
This credit is not eligible for exemplary performance.

Step-1

Adopt Passive design features

Adopt passive architectural design features to minimize negative environmental impacts.
Step-2

Simulate or Prescribe

Simulate the passive technique used and show that it reduces at least 10% annual energy savings. Or demonstrate that the project has used any of the passive strategies mentioned in the IGBC manual.
Step-3

Documentation

Submit narratives and calculations of the energy savings of  passive strategy implemented.
