Key stakeholders in residential PV projects
Successful Solar house system implementation requires collaboration among various parties. Profit, quality of life and social benefit are the driving forces for stakeholders. Key stakeholders in worldwide residential PV expansion are described in the following.
Stakeholders | Function |
Private owner or community | User of residential PV system, initiator and organiser of financing for the system. |
Neighbour | Spatial effects, voluntary agreements, in order to avoid future building and/or vegetation that shades the solar PV system. |
Tenants | Is either the PPS owner or has participation in a solar community. |
Landlord | Clarifies the allowance of the PV installation, if the system owner does not own the premise (e.g., tenant). Amendments to rental agreements might be necessary. |
Service company | Owns the solar PV equipment and sells the electricity to the home owner; thus holds responsibility for proper installation and maintenance. |
Lender | Provides a loan under defined conditions and advises on project financing options. |
Distributor | International system integrators for assembling the system components and providing the whole supply chain. In the case of a PPS, the supplier also offers commissioning support and services during the first years of operation. |
Installer | Supplies labour. |
Technical advisor | Provides (independent) services such as technology assessments, yield assessments and technical due diligence to lenders, owners, installers, utilities and authorities. |
Electrical utility | Clarifies grid code-related issues and sets the regulatory framework, such as tariff, feed-in or net metering concepts. |
Specialist company | Offers complete SHS systems including installation. |
Authorities | Clarify if building permit prior to any work is needed. |
Insurance company | Offers policies for building liability, fire protection, equipment damage and extreme weather events. |
