Renewable power agency celebrates energy conservation day

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA) celebrated National Energy Conservation Day on Saturday by organising a host of activities including an inter-school painting exhibition.
Social welfare and transport minister Yashpal Arya, who was the chief guest at the event, also unveiled the official UREDA 2020 calendar which showcases the 12 best paintings selected through an inter-school painting competition. These students were felicitated during the ceremony. As many as 50 paintings, selected from over 850, on energy crisis and its solutions were displayed at the exhibition. Similarly, a three-minute video on the importance of energy conservation was also played at the event.

UREDA chief project officer AK Tyagi said, “It is important to create awareness among students on the necessity to tackle carbon footprint and work towards sustainable development.”
ONGC chief technical services executive director RK Singh said, “Energy conservation is the need of the hour and we should work towards empowering our children in this regard.”
