The Chanakya, a luxury mall in New Delhi, is taking a definitive step in sustainable operations by pursuing the highest possible certification for zero waste, TRUE Platinum. This major initiative by DLF Emporio aims to achieve Total Resource Use and Efficiency (TRUE) by implementing comprehensive zero waste strategies across the existing mall. In partnership with sustainability consultants Firstgreen Consulting Pvt. Ltd., the project will follow a rigorous methodology, commencing with an in-depth waste stream analysis to identify all opportunities for reduction, reuse, and recycling. Based on these findings, robust zero waste policies will be developed and implemented, covering procurement, materials management, and staff training to ensure the achievement of zero waste goals. Firstgreen Consulting is managing the entire TRUE certification facilitation process, which includes overseeing all documentation, tracking performance metrics, and submitting the project for a final review to the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). This initiative, with a project timeline of 15+ months starting from the August 22, 2024 work order date, underscores The Chanakya’s commitment to leading the way in environmental stewardship and operational excellence.
