UT Adviser Parimal Rai today launched a web portal touted as a one-stop facility for obtaining all clearances for setting up solar power plants in the city.

The web portal, www.solarchandigarh.com, was launched during a one-day conference on “Promoting Energy Efficiency: Moving Towards Solar Future”.

To give clean, green energy initiative a major push, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) with the support of Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST), Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) organised the conference. 

Speaking on the occasion, Rai, who was the chief guest at the event, called for reducing dependency on fossil fuels. “We are moving towards more and more technology-driven things. As a result, our energy needs have also multiplied. There is no harm in consuming power and making our life more comfortable but we should remember we must use power optimally. There is a dire need to switch to greener sources of power generation. Solar energy is one such medium,” said the Adviser.
